I Loved “Love,” but “Love” Could not Love me Back!

I remember the day I met Love,
like it was yesterday.
I quickly recognized him
as the forbidden fruit.
Yet, he seemed nice,
respectful, and charming.

My first instinct was to run
as quickly as possible
Not to even engage with Love
But Love was persistent
I said that I could never love Love.
But the more I tried to break away,
the closer Love got.

I gave in.
I had to give Love a try.
And I did.
But Love, as I knew him,
didn’t know how to love in a way that healed.
His version of love
was heavy, unpredictable, and hard to hold.

Love looked like light at first,
but over time, carried more shadow than warmth.
Love loved the idea of me,
but couldn’t embrace the fullness of who I truly am.
I loved Love,
But Love couldn’t love me back.

God’s promises

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. – Psalm 147:3 NKJV

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. – Psalm 34:18 NIV

O you afflicted one, Tossed with tempest, and not comforted, Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, And lay your foundations with sapphires. I will make your pinnacles of rubies, Your gates of crystal, And all your walls of precious stones. – Isaiah 54:11-12 NKJV

I have experienced deep heartbreak and betrayal from people I trusted — the kind of wounds that shake your sense of safety and worth. But even in those moments of pain, God’s love proved stronger than every disappointment. Human love can walk away, but God’s love stays, heals, restores, and holds. The same God who loved us enough to give His only Son (John 3:16) is the One who draws near to the brokenhearted, casts out fear, and teaches us what real love truly is (1 John 4:18–19). His love doesn’t falter. His love doesn’t betray. His love is the love that never lets go. His love is steady. His love is safe. His love is enough. 🙏🏽❤️

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. – John 3:16 KJV

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us. – 1 John 4:18-19 KJV
